2/6/2010 - Treatment Packages for Body, Mind and Soul

By: Dev Saras

Ayurveda is not just a practice of medicine; it also has advice to holistic, healthy lifestyle. All different aspects of body, mind and soul are covered in detail by Ayurveda.

According to Jeevaka, the chief physician of Buddha, not only herbs, but also the sounds and sunlight too can act as medicines. It is true that pleasant sights can immediately change your mood. You can see the effect of positive thoughts and experiences on the action of your mind.

An active spiritual life keeps you controlled and guided in all aspects of your life. Having a controlled lifestyle is healthful to your body and your mind.

In ancient practice of Ayurveda, the aspects of physical, mental and spiritual lives are inseparably woven together. That is, no single entity is taken separately. All are interconnected. A weakness in any one area – say mind – affects the other two areas – physical and spiritual aspects.

There are quite a few treatment packages that address all these three areas of life – physical, mental and spiritual lives. Spirituality doesn't mean you have to change your religion. It is about knowing the source of all your powers and strength.

Such packages can vary from two days to three weeks. You get chance to live in a hermitage like environment, giving yourself a chance to reflecting upon yourself, your life and your works.

You will receive lessons for holistic eating – eating as much as your body needs and not more than that. You will also get lessons to protecting your body by giving it the essential exercises, taking rest when needed and not putting on works and pressures your body can't handle.

The lessons for healthy mental well being are also there. You learn the techniques for relaxation, switching off and concentrating on one task at a time. You will also identify the superior powers of mind, which can help you relax and achieve anything you desire.

Spiritual life is also something people should not be overlooking. Whatever your religion is, it is essential that you take time to communicate with the centre of the universe, your creator and protector.

In fact, all these three facets are inseparable. There isn't an existence of one without the other two. However, there are people who go deeply in one area while ignoring the other two.

While you attend a mind, body and soul holistic treatment package, you receive the lessons for yoga, mental control, and the steps you can take to improve your spiritual life.

You separate yourself from the stringent requirements of your work schedule and busy life. You stay in a relaxed environment, where the cool atmosphere, warm sunlight and the pleasant sounds of the nature soothe you.
